Your download has started
Windows may show two messages while you install and first open FileTransfer Desktop. Both are normal for a new app. Here's what each one means and what to click.
Download didn't start? Download FileTransfer Desktop 4.1.7 again
"Windows protected your PC"
Windows shows this when you open an app it hasn't seen many people install yet. It's about how new the app is, not about anything found in it.
- Click More info, under the message.
- Check that the publisher is TECHPRD PTY LTD.
- Click Run anyway.
The installer is digitally signed by TECHPRD PTY LTD, and Windows checks that signature before showing our name. If it shows a different publisher, don't run it; download it again from this page instead.
"Windows Defender Firewall has blocked some features of this app"
This appears the first time you open the app. FileTransfer Desktop finds your phone on your Wi-Fi and receives the files your phone sends to it, and Windows asks before any app talks to other devices on your network.
- Keep Private networks ticked and leave Public networks unticked.
- Click Allow access. Windows may ask for your computer's password.
This lets devices on your own Wi-Fi, like your phone, reach the app. Your phone also asks you before a new computer can open its files.
Clicked Cancel by mistake? Open Windows Security, go to Firewall & network protection, choose Allow an app through firewall, and tick Private next to FileTransfer Desktop.
You're ready
Open FileTransfer Desktop, start the server in FileTransfer Pro on your phone, and pick your phone from the list. Both need to be on the same Wi-Fi.
